آقای اولاند گفته است که خواهان بررسی و مذاکرات دوباره بر سر توافقات مالی کشورهای عضو اتحادیه اروپا برای مقابله با بحران مالی حوزه یورو خواهد شد و احتمال پیروزی او در دور دوم انتخابات ریاست‌جمهوری، نگرانی بازار را به دنبال داشته است.

با مشخص شدن نتایج انتخابات ریاست جمهوری فرانسه، نیکلا سارکوزی، رئیس‌جمهور کنونی و فرانسوا اولاند، رقیب اصلی او، در دور دوم این انتخابات که روز ششم ماه مه برگزار می‌شود، رقابت خواهند کرد.
